Grievance redressal

UIDAI has established a dedicated process for the redressal of grievances in case there are any complaints or issues that may be raised while acquiring an Aadhaar Card or even post-acquisition. There are several channels through which one can voice an opinion or concern.

1. UIDAI Contact Centre

A dedicated Contact Centre answers questions and issues relating to Aadhaar Enrolment or Updation services. After the applicant has submitted the application successfully at an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, an acknowledgement receipt will be provided. The enrolment ID number, according to this receipt, may be used in raising a complaint through the Contact Centre. One can also file a grievance through the Resident Portal.

2. Post

You can mail a hard copy of your written feedback to UIDAI by post. The letter of complaint is first scrutinized and then forwarded to the concerned Regional Office. This can be done only with the concurrence of the Deputy Director, who is also the UIDAI Public Grievance Officer. The concerned Regional Office ensures that the complaint is sorted out by talking to the complainant in person. Any interim reply required is given by the regional office.

3. Public grievance portal of the government of India

The Public Grievance Portal is another platform through which a grievance about UIDAI can be lodged. It can be submitted in a plethora of ways, including:

  • Directorial Office for Public Grievances
  • DARPG, or the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances
  • Parent Business
  • Direct payments
  • Secretariat of the President
  • Minister of Pensions’ office
  • Office of P. M.

The complaints upon receipt are examined and forwarded to the concerned Regional Office with the approval of UIDAI Public Grievance Officer. The Regional Office settles the issue electronically. Any interim responses that may be required will be taken care of by the same Regional Office.

4. Email

Complaints or Grievances can be sent by post to the UIDAI staff, which is evaluated and forwarded to HQ office’s Concerned Section or to the concerned Regional Office for addressing and processing the claim through email copying, the UIDAI claim Cell.

Necessary steps to apply for an Aadhaar card

The Indian government has laid down a simple process to apply for an Aadhaar Card. First, in order to fill in the application form, one has to locate the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre to their place of residence and visit it personally. This application form is required to be submitted with some supporting papers like proof of identity and proof of address. A facial photograph is captured at the centre along with iris and fingerprint biometrics. The acceptance receipt you get after submitting your application successfully contains a 14-digit Enrolment Number. One will be able to track the status of their Aadhaar Card with this enrolment number on the website of the UIDAI.
