What is Aadhaar?

Uniqueness
Aadhaar is unique. No two people will be assigned the same 12-digit Aadhaar code. Aadhaar’s uniqueness is achieved through a process of biometrics and demographic deduplication.
During the deduplication process, the applicant’s demographic and biometric information is matched against data stored in the UIDAI database. Check if the resident is already registered in our extensive database. Everyone only needs to register once with Aadhaar. If the individual tries to register again, the deduplication process will prevent that individual from being issued another Her Aadhaar. How to enrol for an Aadhaar card?
All applicants are required to visit the Aadhaar Enrollment Center to begin the process. This includes completing registration forms, submitting demographic,and biometric data, and providing proof of identity & address. As soon as you submit all your details, you will receive a confirmation letter with your EID. The Aadhaar card created for you will be mailed to your home address.

- It’s free. There is no need to pay any fees for the signup process or for issuance of the Aadhaar card.
- Individuals can visit any licensed Aadhaar Enrollment Center in India to initiate the application process. There is no need to visit your local registration center. You can use the center that suits you.
- You must bring your ID and proof of address. UIDAI accepts a wide range of poi and plan documents. Commonly accepted documents include passports, driver’s licenses, ration cards, voter photo IDs,etc. You can submit your government-issued photo ID card, such as his ID card or PAN card, as proof of identity. You can submit landline bills, utility bills, and water bills for the past three months as proof of address.
- If you do not have a regular ID, a photo ID issued by Tehsildar/Gazetteer is also acceptable. A family member can apply for an Aadhaar card even if they do not have separate documents to submit to PoI/PoA. In this case, the head of household must first register with her Aadhaar with valid PoI and PoA documents. Once the head of household receives her Aadhaar card, the head of household can register other family members using her Aadhaar number and supporting documents.

Required Documents for an Aadhaar Card:
When applying for multiple financial services, like credit cards, loans, fixed deposits and savings accounts, the Aadhaar card acts as both address and ID proof. Documentation is also required if you have already registered with Aadhaar but need to make certain changes to your existing details.
Identification document (must have name and photo).
A document that proves your address (must show your name and address). Birth date document.
Documents proving kinship (must include details of the head of the family).
The original copies of the papers you wish to submit must be provided by you. These papers will be scanned, then sent. Photocopies don’t need to be printed and submitted.
